Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, has expressed his support for Ushie Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who alleged receiving threats after her viral video criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration. In a statement posted on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Atiku praised Raye as a representative of a new generation of politically engaged Nigerian women, emphasizing her commitment to democratic participation and accountability.

Raye, a corps member serving in Lagos, gained widespread attention after her TikTok video criticizing the government’s economic policies went viral. In the video, posted on her TikTok handle, #talktoraye, on Saturday, she described Tinubu as a “terrible leader” and expressed concerns about Nigeria’s deteriorating economic conditions. She argued that hard work no longer ensures financial stability and questioned the government’s efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens, sparking widespread debate online.
