#EndBadGovernance: Protesters Storm Jos Old Airport Roundabout Road
Nigerians refused to give up. On Sunday, 04-07-24, protesters stormed the Old Airport Roundabout Road in Jos to protest and also held a service at the junction, accompanying the ongoing #EndBadGovernance movement.
A large number of people, including both Christian and Muslim leaders, were present. Among the notable figures were Prophet Isa El-Buba and former Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung.
This gathering caused traffic at the Old Airport Roundabout, one of the busiest roads in Jos, forcing motorists to take alternate routes. People were seen with various designs of the Nigerian flag, green, white, and green.
Notable news outlets were present. Some of those at the protest spoke with Punch, stating their reasons for holding the service at the roundabout. According to their responses: “We believe God is still in the business of delivering people from bondage, and possibly God can turn things around for good and better.”
Others said:
“I have been participating in the protest since it began on Thursday, and today, being Sunday, we are continuing with the protest with a church service,” said a protester, Philip Madaki, who arrived at the venue around 7:30 am.
“As the protest is ongoing, we believe that God Almighty has not abandoned the country and its citizens, and we know He has the power to turn the hearts of kings in whichever direction,”
“And we want Him to visit our leaders in the country, especially those in governance positions, and touch their hearts so that they will know that the citizens are really suffering because of bad governance and their harsh economic policies in the country and be able to do something to change the situation. That’s why we are adding the church service to the ongoing protests.”
