Four Fake Prophets Arrested in Delta State for N1.5 Million Scam
In Delta state, the police have apprehended four individuals involved in a fraudulent scheme where they posed as prophets, deceiving people into believing they could help improve their lives in exchange for money.
According to a statement shared on X by SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the state’s police command, the suspects approached a victim, convincing him that he had a promising future and required their spiritual guidance. They even transported the victim to Osun state, claiming he needed to bathe in the Osun River to secure his prosperity. During this process, they managed to swindle the victim out of N1.5 million.
“This individual was conned out of over N1.7 million by suspects who promised him a bright future. They took him to a river in Osun state under the pretense of extracting more money from him. The victim realized the scam and reported it to the police, leading to their swift arrest,” Edafe stated.
Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to having defrauded numerous individuals using similar tactics.
