President Tinubu appoints Nasir Naeem Abdulsalam as the new MD of Ajaokuta Steel Company
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Nasir Naeem Abdulsalam as the new Managing Director of Ajaokuta Steel Company.
The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday night in Abuja by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
According to the statement, Abdulsalam’s appointment took effect from April 3, 2025, and aligns with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) Act of 2008, as amended.

Before stepping into his new role, Abdulsalam served as the Technical Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Steel Development and also held the position of Special Assistant (Academics) to the Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS).

President Tinubu has tasked Abdulsalam with drawing on his vast experience in the steel sector to drive the transformation of Ajaokuta Steel Company. The President envisions the company as a key player in generating significant industrial and economic activity, contributing to Nigeria’s ambition of becoming Africa’s industrial powerhouse.
The President further emphasized that the new MD should harness his expertise to fully unlock the potential of the steel industry, in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes industrial diversification and economic growth.
